After graduating from Edinburgh University with an MA Honours degree in English Literature, Edward Arruns Mulhorn lived and worked abroad for several years – cutting fishermen’s hair, compiling quick crosswords for national newspapers and managing various businesses – first in Greece, then Turkey and then Egypt. Returning to England, he worked as a strategy consultant, first in the private and then in the voluntary sector. When transitioning between the two, he took time out to write Snake and To Every Thing There Is A Season. He later moved abroad again to provide business advice to a peace organisation in Sri Lanka, recording his experiences in a blog that later became a travel journal entitled A Flat Country, With Hills. Around the same time, he also published a collection of short stories, We Go Blindly Into The Darkness, mostly compiled from scribblings whilst abroad. Having taken more time off work to write The Release, he made the decision to focus full time on writing in 2024, producing The Deserter later that year, and The Twelve Days of Christmas and For What is Lost in 2025. His most recent novel is Michael’s Halo. Edward Arruns Mulhorn is married with two children and divides his time between Gloucestershire and London. He likes to explore, and wishes he could remember more. He tries to do the right thing, but makes a lot of mistakes. Music brings him alive.
